Fellowship Baptist Church was founded in the fall of 1997. The first service was held in the Bluff City Elementary School auditorium in January of 1998. In the spring of that same year the church was led by God to purchase property at an auction of the Thomas farm along State Route 390 in Bluff City, TN. In January of 1999 we began construction of the present sanctuary and held our first service in June of that year. The church continued to grow and the fellowship hall was completed in the spring of 2002. We truly believe that God has led us to this place to impact our community for Christ.
Pastor Scott Watson has been the pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church since the beginning. Scott is a graduate of East Tennessee State University, has two sons, Blake and Jacob and their wives and his wonderful wife Gloria.
“I Love Music . . . . I Love All Kinds of Music”, that’s what our music leader Jim Denton says. You see, Jimmy has been around music all his life and has enjoyed the opportunity to sing in many choirs and groups before becoming choir leader for Fellowship Baptist Church. When the church began, Denton led the choir, as well as the youth, and did the bulletin. Today, Jimmy leads one of the most talented small choirs in the region. “It is my honor to serve the Lord and to be a part of the service each and every week. I have enjoyed so many songs with this group of people and we have invited the spirit of our savior into His house. What a joy!” Denton is married to Janet Dishner Denton and has been for 30 years. They have two children, son Logan & his wife Morgan and daughter Loren.
